The State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan Republic is the central executive body endowed with the functions of customs control of export and import operations as well as organization of customs affairs in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The Committe’s strategy implies the digital transformation and implementation of innovative technologies with the aim of sustaining high standards of custom services.

Business challenge

The State Customs Committee made a strategic decision to design and build a best-in-class data centre facility in a newly constructed headquarters office in the capital of Azerbaijan Republic. The new data centre aimed to host mission critical applications intended for daily use by organisations and the public. The ultimate challenge was to design a data centre within a defined architectural plan of the new building and yet qualify to requirements of Tier III standard of Uptime Institute. The Uptime Institute is an American professional services organization focused on improving the performance, efficiency, and reliability of business-critical infrastructure through innovation, collaboration, and independent certifications.

Solution

ED analysed customer requirements and designed the data centre infrastructure in accordance with Tier III standards of Uptime Institute. ED facilitated a series of workshops with the State Customs Committee, Uptime Institute, construction company and architects to design an engineering solution that would satisfy business needs and comply to regiours requirements of Uptime Institute. The project documentation produced by ED and the specification of the proposed technical solutions have been thoroughly analysed and certificated by the Uptime Institute. The technical model developed by our team included a set of engineering solutions that enabled construction of efficient and robust data centre.

Business value

The new data center engineered by the ED team meets industry standards enabling the State Customs Committee to maintain high quality of services and continuous operations of critical applications. The new data centre of the State Customs Committee inspires confidence in the reliability of technology services and accelerates further transformation of digital services provided to the citizens of Azerbaijan Republic.

In this project, Eurodesign cooperated with following international vendors: Uptime Institute, Schneider, Siemens, Caterpillar, Hikvision. Our team deployed a broad range of technology solutions such as in-row cooling, UPS, high-availability generators, fire protection and fire alarm systems, enviroment monitoring, copper and fibre optic infrastructure.
