Implementation of a Comprehensive IT Solution for a Training and Simulation Centre

The Client: The Baku Branch of the Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University

The Baku branch of I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University is the University’s first foreign campus. On September 15, 2015, the Baku branch received its first one hundred students. Leading professors and teachers of the First Moscow State Medical University provide training in General Medicine at the Baku campus according to the University’s curricula and programs. Students study full time for six years. Upon graduation, they receive a diploma and the qualification of General Practitioner from the I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University.

Business Challenge

The University decided to open the first Training and Simulation Centre in Azerbaijan to improve practical skills of future doctors and enhance the qualifications of medical specialists. The Training and Simulation Centre required new equipment based on the most advanced technologies for practical training and assessing the level of acquired skills and competencies.

Solution

The University invited ED to provide a comprehensive IT solution including the design of IT infrastructure. This project included multiple areas of IT: SCS, CCTV, networking, audio-visual system, PA system, wireless communications, IP telephony and access control. After identification of the general and specific requirements with the customer, ED has designed and successfully implemented the systems.

Business value

The solution developed by ED enabled the customer to enhance business value by achieving the following goals:

  • Creating an appropriate SCS system for the simulators. 
  • Providing flawless audio connection between experts and students at the stations and in the simulation rooms. 
  • Video recording and storing of exams for one year for further analysis. 
  • Introducing an access control and RFID system for entry to stations and setting tasks for students before exams. 
  • Implementing CCTV systems with video walls to track the whole area. 
  • Implementing video and audio simulation in the Ambulance Room for use during accident exams.
